Trenzadas is an imaginary landscape that represents the connection between geographical spaces, the body, and identity through memory, proposing a surreal space that invites self-reflection.

Through the use of elements such as hair, earth, and the body, Trenzadas explores the different ways in which collective identity is intertwined with individual identity. The two-channel video combines archival and original footage from Mexico, the United States, and Ecuador. The soundtrack incorporates fragments from public and personal archives, including traditional music, urban and nature sounds, and poetry narrated in English and Spanish. The texts combine original works and quotes from writers of the Americas: Alejandra Pizarnik, Alejandra Smits, Gloria Anzaldúa, Natalie Diaz, Robin Wall Kimmerer, and Valeria Luiselli.

Together, these elements illustrate an emotional cartography that seeks to connect with the memories and places of our origins. This imaginary landscape questions issues of identity in relation to the territories we inhabit, their histories, the borders that define them, and the origins and intersections of these, challenging the boundaries between what is perceived as a place and its memory.
